Horse Rescue Australia Inc. is a non-profit organisation and registered charity devoted to the care and rehabilitation of horses that have suffered abuse, abandonment or neglect. The organisation is run by a small, dedicated volunteer committee, one of whom is resident manager. Horse Rescue Australia receives no government assistance at all which means running of the sanctuary and ensuring the good health and wellbeing of the horses is funded solely through generous donations, sponsorships, memberships and fundraising events
If you have excess horse gear, rugs, saddles, saddle cloths, bridles, halters, lead ropes, etc (in good condition) we would be very grateful to receive them.
This gear will be used for our horses or if the herd is unable to use it, we hold a fundraising gear sale day and the sales go towards the care, health and well-being of the herd. This is usually held in May and we’ll notify everyone of the date via our socials and newsletter.

Becoming a sponsor offers you the chance to change the life of a horse that may have suffered physical and/or psychological trauma. You can choose the horse and get updates on their progress. All horses we take in spend time with experts for rehabilitation to build them back up to good physical health and emotional well-being before they are assessed for adoption suitability.

We love hosting volunteer days at our North Richmond property. We try to hold them every second month depending on the weather.
‘Vollie Day’ starts with a property tour to meet the horses and an update on what’s been happening at the sanctuary. For those looking to be a bit more hands on, there are odd jobs to be done like clearing weeds in the paddocks, poo pickup, fixing fences or cutting back brush. Grooming is a highlight and the horses love the attention. Keep an eye on our socials or sign up for our newsletter for updates.
