The organisations listed below are able to help with equines (horses, ponies, donkeys), and may be a better contact for those outside HRA’s area (Sydney and surrounds).
The SPPHA’s main goal is to “promote the Standardbred horse in equestrian activities beyond their lives in harness racing and to find homes for them when they finish their racing careers”. They rehome horses throughout NSW.
Save a Horse Australia Inc. are located near Toowoomba, inland from Brisbane. They operate in south east Queensland and their purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome neglected, abused and slaughter-bound horses.
Project Hope operates in the Melbourne area of Victoria. They investigate abuse and neglect, advice and support owners, educate the public and rehabilitate and rehome neglected and surrendered horses.
The GSDS is located at Glen William which is around 30 kms south of Dungog in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW. They offer shelter, food, refuge and care for abandoned, neglected, mistreated or ill donkeys.
HRA is not affiliated with any of the above orgs. We provide contact details for them only as an option for those seeking to help horses, not as an endorsement.
If you run a rescue organisation able to help horses and want to be listed, or you are listed and do not want to be, then please contact HRA.
