We had to have Princess put to sleep due to complications brought on by old age and illness. She spent her final years with her friend Tia, who would watch over her as she slept and boss her around when it was feed time.
After 6 years at HRA Dodger (with Maggie to his left) was succumbing to the ravages of old age, blindness and arthritis. While he found his way around his paddock okay, he was only getting worse and the decision to have him euthanised was made. He was very popular with our generous sponsors, and our condolensces, and thanks on his behalf, go out to them.
Due to her age-related decline we’ve said farewell to little Maggie.
Sadly, at the age of 32, we’ve had to farewell Tia. She came to HRA skinny, with a dull thin coat missing large patches of hair, exposing her skin. After two weeks at HRA she looked much better, and had soon put on weight and had a shiny thick coat. She was able to spend the last several years of her life being looked after as she should have been all along. Thank you to the HRA care-taker, Anne, who looked after her so well.
Markeen was put to sleep on 24th June 2016 due to colic.
Holly was found wandering around loose with terrible infected wounds to her head and legs. After trying hard to treat her successfully the sad decision was made to end her misery.
Vale HR Naztazzia. She was one of our favourite elderly residents but had been unwell for quite some time and went down hill yesterday. The vet was called and off she galloped to the big pasture in the sky. Her BFF Dot is really going to be lost for a while without Naztazzia but she has the herd for company.
Sadly, we lost our gentle soul Kossie on Sunday 23rd July 2017 at the ripe old age of 32. He was surrounded by committee members for his loving goodbye.
