Horse Rescue Australia operates completely on the goodwill of its supporters. We don’t receive any sort of government funding so anything you can do to help the horses goes a long way – whether it is your time, your donation or your sponsorship. Donation of second hand rugs and horse gear is so appreciated. Supporting our regular appeals. Or even leaving a gift in your Will.

sponsorship

When horses arrive at the sanctuary, they go through an assessment and rehabilitation process before being put up for adoption. Some horses stay with us for longer due to physical or psychological trauma and their care is supported by generous sponsors.

volunteer

We hold regular volunteer days for members of the public at our North Richmond property.

Come and find out more about the herd and the sanctuary, help out with grooming, clean-up and odd jobs.

Reporting neglected horses

Whilst Horse Rescue Australia is not able to seize neglected or abused horses, we work closely with the RSPCA and animal welfare organisations to ensure that horses find their way to the sanctuary.

Donate 2nd hand horse gear

Horse Rescue Australia gratefully receives donations of second hand horse gear. Items that are not utilised by the herd are gathered together for our annual gear sale fundraising event.

Adopt a horse

When horses come to the sanctuary, our ultimate goal is to find them a new forever home. Adoptions are a carefully screened process to ensure that horses are matched to the right family.
